Arad completed a double B.Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering and in Chemistry at the Technion in 2017. He then joined the Bio-Inspired Surface Engineering and Biomineralization Lab, led by Prof. Boaz Pokroy, first as an M.Sc. student and later as a Ph.D. candidate. His doctoral work focused on how organic molecules can be incorporated into synthetic crystals, and how this incorporation influences the physical behavior of the host materials.

After earning his Ph.D., Arad received the Blavatnik Cambridge Postdoctoral Fellowship and joined the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge. During his time there, he worked across three research groups: the Hybrid Materials Group (Prof. Thomas D. Bennett), the Functional Energy Materials Group (Prof. Sian E. Dutton), and the Photoactive Materials Group (Prof. Rachel Evans). His postdoctoral research focused on the formation and properties of hybrid perovskite glasses.

In 2025, Arad joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Technion as an Assistant Professor, where he now leads the Functional Hybrid Materials Lab.
